Springshed revival and management
Spring inventories, hydrogeology, community governance and repeat monitoring. Geology and water rights must be established locally; no generic recharge trenches.

Support glacier and catchment observation partnerships and use the evidence for downstream adaptation planning.

UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUE
Kolahoi research documents glacier change over the periods studied. Glacier observations can inform downstream planning, but a small NGO project cannot promise to reverse retreat or infer future water supply from glacier area alone.
The first phase would turn this broad issue into a bounded site investigation. Current condition, the cause of change and an accountable local partnership would guide whether an intervention is appropriate.
Observations need a stated place, period and method to be useful.
A project can support better evidence and practical local adaptation.
Seasonality, background influences and uncertainty belong alongside any reported change.
PROPOSED APPROACH
Support glacier and catchment observation partnerships and use the evidence for downstream adaptation planning.
Work with glacier and catchment researchers to identify an observation or downstream information gap.
Support an agreed monitoring or water-planning contribution that complements existing scientific work.
Use consistent glacier or catchment indicators and communicate uncertainty in downstream implications.
Work with glacier and catchment researchers to identify an observation or downstream information gap. Keep methods, dates, source records and unresolved questions together.
Support an agreed monitoring or water-planning contribution that complements existing scientific work. Identify responsibilities, permissions, costs and continuing care before proceeding.
Use consistent glacier or catchment indicators and communicate uncertainty in downstream implications. State what would count as success, failure or a reason to change course.
Local evidence
A locally relevant topic is documented by a cited source; current severity and site feasibility remain unassessed.

These references offer methods to assess locally. They do not establish what will work at a selected Kashmir site.
