Tree Planting in Schools
Site-specific school habitats, shade and ongoing care. Local species, water, safeguarding and maintenance matter more than a copied planting density.
KVI-46 · Towns & everyday places
Inventory valuable existing trees, including chinars where appropriate, and develop qualified tree-care plans.

UNDERSTANDING THE ISSUE
Mature trees can be difficult to replace, yet the current inventory does not establish a Valley-wide rate of loss or poor care. Each candidate tree needs an assessment of condition, habitat value, rooting space and public use by qualified practitioners.
This opportunity begins with checking whether the suspected problem is present and significant at a named site. A field baseline, the relevant technical partners and local priorities would determine whether CCK should develop it further.
Trees, soil, water and small habitat patches can be considered within everyday public spaces.
Access, cultural meaning and routine maintenance should shape the design.
A named custodian and a realistic care arrangement give a small project a chance to last.
PROPOSED APPROACH
Inventory valuable existing trees, including chinars where appropriate, and develop qualified tree-care plans.
Inventory selected trees and arrange an arboricultural assessment with the relevant owner or custodian.
Develop a care plan addressing verified root-zone, soil or structural concerns.
Keep consistent condition records and review the maintenance actions at suitable intervals.
Inventory selected trees and arrange an arboricultural assessment with the relevant owner or custodian. Keep methods, dates, source records and unresolved questions together.
Develop a care plan addressing verified root-zone, soil or structural concerns. Identify responsibilities, permissions, costs and continuing care before proceeding.
Keep consistent condition records and review the maintenance actions at suitable intervals. State what would count as success, failure or a reason to change course.
